Surgery was a success!

Last Christmas I was diagnosed with hyperparathyroisism. I put off going into to the throat dr. Because I have been trying to fix/ get rid of my endometriosis and that was taking up a lot of my time with dr appointments and shots. I finally decided to go into the throat dr two months ago and they told me the only option was to get 1 or more of my parathyroids taken out. Those little rice sized balls were affecting a lot of things in my body. It was creating kidney stones and I was always tired. They told me it would be an instant fix so I opted to go for the surgery. Before they do the actual surgery they send you in for a radioactive test to find out which one (or if all four) need to come out. They shoot you up with the radioactive die and then take hours of pictures of your throat. So boring. I went in for my results the next week and they informed me that they couldn't figure out which ones were acting up, so they did an ultrasound of my throat and that didn't help either. Dr. Sharma informed me that he would just have to go in blind and take samples from all four parathyroids while I was cut open, send the tests out to the lab, wait for the results, and then take out the ones that aren't shutting off when they should be. Just great.
Yesterday I finally went in for the surgery. It went amazingly. They ended up taking out two of the parathyroids which is great because they didn't want to have to take them all out. They had me under for almost 6 hours! They told me it was only going to be about a four hour surgery so I guess I will find out at my follow up appt. why it took so long. The nurse that took care of me after was AMAZING! I was kind of out of it while she was taking care of me but we talked slot. When she came in the first time I asked for a blanket because I was so cold. But after about an hour I started having night sweats so I was ripping off my clothes. She came back in to take my temperate and I was laughing because I was DRIPPING sweat on my forehead. She asked me if it was from my Lupron Depot shots that she had seen on my charts. I laughed and said fake menopause was awesome! She asked if it was helping my endometriosis and told me she had really bad endometriosis also. Her dr had wanted her to do the shots 7 years ago but she had only heard bad things about it so she decided not to do it. I asked her if she was ever able to have kids, (I apologized for asking, I was out of it.) she was never able to have kids but she adopted two kids from sisters! So her kids are actually cousins! When she was wheeling me out to the car she was telling me how much she hoped I could have kids because they are going to be so cute! I told her I just want one brown baby and then I can have everything taken out and go on with our lives with no endometriosis. She laughed and said her babies were half brown too! I love hearing success stories of people that have endometriosis. Now I am sitting at home relaxing and hoping this surgery was a success.
